Terms of Service

Last updated: February 13, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Carrie, an herbal operations platform for inventory lot tracking, batch production, and compliance record-keeping. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms.

1. What Carrie Provides

Carrie is a tool for managing herbal product operations, including:

  • Inventory lot tracking with supplier, quantity, and storage data
  • Smart expiry suggestions based on herb category and storage conditions
  • Formula management with recipe-to-lot mapping and validation
  • Batch production records with full input traceability and immutable hashing
  • Barcode scanning and label photo OCR for automated data entry
  • GMP-style export of batch records in PDF and CSV format
  • Audit trails for expiry overrides, stock events, and alert resolution
  • Alerts for low stock, near-expiry, and spoilage risk conditions

2. Compliance Disclaimer

Carrie is a record-keeping and operations tool. It is not a substitute for legal, regulatory, or compliance advice.

  • Expiry suggestions are confidence-scored estimates based on herb category and storage conditions. They do not constitute safety determinations. You are responsible for verifying the safety and shelf life of your products.
  • Batch production records are generated from user-entered data and are provided for record-keeping purposes only.
  • GMP-style exports are formatted to support compliance workflows but do not guarantee FDA, GMP, or FTC compliance on their own.
  • Immutable record hashes verify data integrity but do not constitute legal certification.

You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy of your data and ensuring your operations comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations including FDA, GMP, and FTC requirements.

3. Your Account

  • You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • Account roles (owner, staff, auditor) determine access levels within your organization. Account owners are responsible for managing role assignments.
  • You may not share account credentials or allow unauthorized individuals to access your account.

4. Your Data

Ownership: You retain ownership of all operational data you enter into Carrie, including inventory records, formulas, batch records, and audit trails.

Accuracy: You are responsible for the accuracy of data you enter. Carrie processes your data as provided — including data auto-filled via barcode scanning or label OCR. You should review and confirm all auto-filled data before saving.

Immutable Records: Batch production records are sealed with a cryptographic hash at creation. These records cannot be modified after creation by design. This is an intentional compliance feature. Ensure batch data is correct before finalizing.

Export: You may export your data at any time through the app's PDF and CSV export features. Export availability depends on your account tier:

  • Standard tier: up to 5 individual batch exports per month
  • Pro tier: unlimited individual exports and bulk annual exports

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use Carrie for any unlawful purpose or to track substances that are illegal in your jurisdiction
  • Attempt to circumvent export rate limits or account tier restrictions
  • Submit false or misleading data with the intent to produce fraudulent compliance records
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service infrastructure
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the application
  • Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the service

6. Label OCR and Barcode Scanning

Carrie offers optional barcode scanning and label photo OCR to speed up data entry.

  • OCR results are AI-generated extractions and may contain errors. You must review and confirm all extracted data before saving.
  • Label photos are sent to a third-party AI service (Anthropic) for processing. Photos are not permanently stored after extraction is complete.
  • Barcode scanning supports Code128, EAN13, EAN8, UPC-A, UPC-E, and QR formats. Scan accuracy depends on label quality and device camera capability.

7. Service Availability

We aim to keep Carrie available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance, updates, or experience outages. We are not liable for losses resulting from service unavailability.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • Carrie is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
  • We are not liable for any product safety issues, regulatory violations, or financial losses arising from your use of the app or reliance on expiry suggestions, batch records, or other app-generated data.
  • We are not liable for errors in OCR extraction, barcode scanning, or any auto-filled data that you confirm and save.
  • Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the use of Carrie shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Subscriptions and Billing

  • Paid tiers are offered as auto-renewing subscriptions purchased through Apple App Store or Google Play.
  • Billing is handled by Apple or Google through your store account. Carrie does not process payments directly or store full payment card numbers.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel through your store subscription settings before the next renewal date.
  • You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your device's App Store or Play Store subscription settings.
  • Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their respective refund policies.
  • If a subscription lapses, access to paid features may be limited until the subscription is renewed.

10. Account Termination

  • You may delete your account at any time from within the app's Settings screen, or by contacting support@carrie.app. We recommend exporting your data before deletion.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with notice where practical.
  • Upon account deletion, your data will be removed from our systems in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of Carrie after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York and applicable federal laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of laws principles.
